Meet The Supplier - A Dance To Remember

Welcome back to another of our Meet The Supplier posts, this week we've selected another of our new 2017 suppliers, I'd like to introduce you to the gorgeous and very talented Claire at A Dance to Remember...

What's your business called, introduce us to the people in your business?

A Dance To Remember – specialising in first dance lessons for your big day.  With over 10 years professional dance experience in a wide range of styles,  Claire has travelled the world as a featured dancer and dance captain.  Now based back in Aberdeen, Claire is a freelance choreographer and teacher across many styles.

Tell us about your business, what services do you provide for weddings, are these available for other events or occassions?

First Dance Lessons - Whether you are looking for a little guidance to make the moment special for you and your partner, or a spectacle with the full bridal party to entertain your guests we can choreograph a dance you can relax and enjoy.  Each dance will be choreographed and tailored to your ability, ideas and preference - every wedding is different and every dance should be too!
Could be for an anniversary, special birthday, or any occasion you want to dance!

What's your favourite part of the job? Is there a part that you really look forward to or enjoy?

It is very rewarding to see the progress from the initial stages of the first lesson to the complete dance.  Whether no or little dance experience, to see the confidence grow and the steps flow together makes seeing the final ‘performance’ so special.  All the practice is so worthwhile when you can dance into your future together with confidence!

What sets you apart from your competitors?

With over a decade in professional dance experience around the world across a wide variety of styles and intensive training prior to that, Claire can work with you to make your ideas come to life.  From a simple twirl and a little guidance to a fully choreographed routine, any idea is possible.

Do you have an unusual, interesting or funny story about your business/previous clients?

Previously Claire has turned up to teach a bride and father-of-the-bride routine, only to find the bride was 150 miles away and the lesson would be via Skype!

Real Life Weddings - Cait & Ben

One of our TLWB suppliers recently assisted the beautiful Cait and her new husband Ben to create their perfect day, so I'll hand you over to Jill at Taylor Made Events to tell you all about it...

Wedding Date: 30 December
Ceremony: Arbuthnott, Bervie and Kinneff Church.  Beautiful church, picturesque scenery - stunning!
Reception: The Grassic Gibbon Centre, Arbuthnott
TLWB Suppliers:
  • Planned and coordinated by me (Jill, Taylor Made Events)
  • Make Up and Hair by Gosia Weiss
  • Cake by Cake That and Party
  • Alba Bagpipes did the piping

I had the absolute pleasure of helping Cait & Ben organise their destination winter wedding in Scotland.  The couple had a bespoke package created for them to ensure I could support them as much as possible with Cait living in America and Ben in London.

Cait contacted me in September so we only had a few months to organise everything, and thanks to the amazing suppliers we worked with, they made this happen!

Hair & Make Up - Gosia Weiss Make-Up Artist.  The very creative, talented and fun Gosia.  The bridal party did not have trials due to them arriving a few days before the wedding however Gosia prepared in advance by asking for pictures to be sent through.  The hair and make up lasted all day, even with the windy weather.

Piper - Alba Bagpipes - professional pipers for hire.  I liaised with Rikki on the lead up to the day and Barry piped on the day welcoming guests with the traditional bagpipes and then used the small pipes in the church for walking down the aisle and signing the marriage certificate.  It was great to have the pipes feature as much as possible, given the Bride's family are not from Scotland.

Cake - Cake That and Party.  The very talented Emma provided a 'naked' red velvet cake with buttercream and fresh fruit.  Light and delightful.
